GREG Halford and Danny Collins have both been made available for transfer by Nottingham Forest.
The Reds are not desperate to offload the duo, but feel they will be peripheral figures in the coming campaign.
And manager Stuart Pearce is willing to allow both men to move on, in the search for first team football.
Halford, 29, has featured regularly in pre-season, but largely in a central midfield role.
And Forest have a host of options in the centre of the pitch – and in the back four, where the versatile Halford would also hope to challenge for a place.
It is for similar reasons that Collins has been made available, with the 34-year-old down the pecking order behind Michael Mancienne, Jack Hobbs, Jamaal Lascelles and Kelvin Wilson, when the quartet are all fit.
While Danny Fox has shown in pre-season that he is more than capable of playing in a more central role, if required.
Forest also have financial fair play rules at the back of their minds, as they look to further slash the wage bill, by moving two senior players on.
Halford has made 70 starts and 12 sub appearances in two years with Forest, scoring seven goals. Collins has started 66 games for the Reds, along with five appearances off the bench, scoring one goal.
Pearce has already been ruthless in his decision making this summer, allowing all of the club's out of contract players to leave.
While Rafik Djebbour had his contract paid up, Darius Henderson was allowed to join Leyton Orient, Radi Majewski has gone to Huddersfield on loan and Simon Cox and Jamie Mackie are expected to see their moves to Reading confirmed today.
