NOTTS County have confirmed the signing of midfielder Gary Jones on a one-year deal.
The 37-year-old impressed in the Magpies' 2-0 friendly win over Osasuna last week, getting on the scoresheet with a superb volley and setting up Hayden Mullins.
He has won promotion with both Rochdale and Bradford City, making more than 400 appearances for the former across three spells, and skippering both.
Jones' leadership qualities particularly caught the eye of Notts boss Shaun Derry after identifying that as one of the club's weaknesses during last season's relegation battle.
And, as revealed in today's Nottingham Post, Derry was keen to add the man he refers to as an 'absolute warrior' to his squad – 24 hours after signing fellow midfielder Elliott Whitehouse.
Jones will take the number 13 shirt, and is in contention for his competitive debut when the Magpies open their League One campaign at Preston North End on Saturday.
