Police have helped bring a man down from the top of a hotel car park. The man, 30, was seen being led down towards the exit of the Crowne Plaza car park in Hanley Street by two other men at around 12.30pm. Police say he has now been detained under the Mental Health Act. A cordon which was put in place on Talbot Street and Wollaton Street has been lifted. Officers were called to the scene earlier this morning after the man was seen standing at the top of the building by members of the public. Residents and employees near the Crowne Plaza Hotel were kept back after emergency services cordoned off Wollaton Street, Hanley Street and Talbot Street at around 9.50am. Diversions were put in place while police warned drivers to keep away from the area. Response vehicles including three fire engines, two other fire and rescue vehicles, three ambulances and four police cars arrived at the scene shortly after 10am. One witness, who chose not be named, said he had been kept from getting to an exam he was meant to take at a building in Hanley Street. He said: "I've been trying to get to college, I have an exam at 1pm – I'm trying to get in contact with the college to let them know. "I've been waiting six weeks to take it – it's not until later but I wanted to go in there to do some revising beforehand – I'm really annoyed." One man, whose car was parked in the police cordon, was told to wait until later to collect his vehicle. Another witness who works on Talbot Street was being kept back by the cordon. He said: "I've not been given much information about what's happening right now, just to be told that I can't go into work. "I've had to call in work, there's not much I can do." Tourist Luca Allgra, 35, had been visiting the city from Italy and had left his car parked at the Crown Plaza. He said: "They said there was an emergency, we were trying to go into the car park, we left our car there yesterday. "We had been planning to head up to Edinburgh later today, we'll just have to wait now." A police spokesman said: "Officers were called to Wollaton Street at 9.30am on Thursday. The matter was brought to a safe conclusion at just before 1pm. No one was injured." "A 30-year-old man was detained under the Mental Health Act."
