THEY might look like toys, but the moving objects in this video are all cakes.
Cake Frame – the new product allowing the Fraggle Rock themed confectionery to come to life – is the brain child of novelty cakes and airbrush specialist instructor Dawn Butler, 37, whose Dinkydoodle Designs business is based in West Bridgford.
The internal support system for cakes replaces the need to use wood, metal or plumbing piping to help elaborate, gravity-defying tiered cakes stand upright.
Its clear plastic rods are made from food-grade material and can be re-used.
The product was launched at the Cake International event, held at the NEC arena in Birmingham on November 7-9.
The Cake Decorating Company, based in Triumph Road, Nottingham, worked with Dawn to bring the product to market.
Sarah Dawes, digital marketing manager at the Cake Decorating Company, said: "Dawn has worked tirelessly for the last 18 months developing and designing a new invention that will revolutionise the way cakes can be built and what is possible with cake.
"Previously non-food grade materials like MDF, piping and plumbing supplies had to be used to make these impressive cakes stand up, but Cake Frame means that there is no drilling, gluing or DIY required."
