ARMED robbers broke into a Tesco Express in Long Eaton.
The two masked men forced their way into the warehouse of the shop in Cranfleet Way just after 6am on Tuesday using crowbars.
They threatened a member of staff and told him to open both the safe and tills in the store.
But after a scuffle, which left the employee with head injuries, the robbers ran off - and police believe they left empty handed.
Both of the robbers were dressed in dark clothing and wore dark balaclavas over their faces.
One was of slight build and about 5ft 9in, whilst the other was 6ft.
The worker was taken to Queen's Medical Centre to be treated for his injuries.
Derbyshire Police are now looking to speak to anyone who saw any activity around the shop in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
