MANSFIELD swimmer Charlotte Henshaw has pulled out of the European Championships due to a 'prolonged medical condition'. The 27-year-old missed out on a place at the recent Commonwealth Games, but had hoped to take part in Eindhoven. However, she has been forced to withdraw from the team on medical advice. "I'm absolutely devastated not to be able to compete in my third European Championships," Henshaw said. "But unfortunately I was taken ill two weeks prior to the competition and was admitted to hospital. "Although I'm now home, I'm still having to attend hospital for daily treatment and was gutted when my consultant told me I was unfit to travel and compete. "We had tried everything to get me well enough to race but time was unfortunately against us. "I'd like to thank British Swimming and the EIS medical staff for their understanding and support and wish all my team mates the best of luck for the championships." Head Coach Rob Greenwood added: "Charlotte has worked really hard to try to be back for the Europeans but unfortunately has had to pull out of the competition. "She will continue medical treatment and will be ready for the pre-season to ensure her full fitness for the 2015 IPC World Championships in Glasgow."
