Firefighters rescued a man trapped inside a lift during a fire at a city centre hotel.
An electrical fire started on the 16th floor of the Crowne Plaza in Wollaton Street, Nottingham, at just after 5pm on Friday.
Four fire engines, two ambulances and two police cars were called to the scene and the blaze, contained in the motor room, was extinguished quickly. No evacuation took place.
The man trapped in the lift was freed and suffered no injuries but was treated for shock by paramedics.
Group manager Bryn Coleman from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to a fire on the 16th floor of the hotel.
"There was also a person trapped in the lift nearby who experienced some smoke coming in.
"We extinguished the fire which was caused by an electrical fault very quickly and freed the person involved."
David Clements, general manager of the hotel said: "Unfortunately the hotel did have a very small fire lasting no more than ten minutes today but we are pleased to say was self-contained to the motor room above the 16th floor car park of the hotel.
"The emergency services were called as a priority and the fire was immediately distinguished with no need to evacuate the hotel. Safety of our guests is of the utmost importance and on the guidance of the fire brigade, an evacuation was not necessary and the hotel continued to operate as normal."
