REGARDING the story about the woman banned from breastfeeding in Sports Direct, (Post, April 24) I am a middle-aged woman who protested in the 1980s against breastfeeding discrimination.
This latest nonsense only reveals the blinkered attitudes and strange hang-ups of the silly people that seek to oppress young mothers.
What a shame that a national chain should allow such discrimination in its store, bringing a negative edge to what should have been an easily enjoyable shopping experience.
It is illegal to practice this discrimination and it is foolish.
A baby needs to be fed when it needs to be fed.
It would be preferable not to imprison mothers in their homes until the child is weaned.
For one thing, the profits of stores would surely drop, as, hopefully, SportsDirect may find.
I occasionally shop online with SportsDirect. I will not be doing so until this matter is comprehensively cleared up in favour of young mothers and their hungry babies.
