NOTTINGHAM Rugby lost to rock bottom Ealing Trailfinders for the second time this season after they went down 37-35 on Saturday.

The result means the Green and Whites are still not safe from relegation in the Championship.

However, there was some good news as second bottom Jersey were well beaten by London Welsh.

Nottingham drew first blood when flanker Tom Calladine broke through the defence and he popped inside to Joe Munro, who ran in for a try which Matt Jarvis converted comfortably.

Ealing hit back immediately as Ben Ward found Phil Chesters on the wing with a cross-kick and he ran in his 12th try of the season. Ward converted for Ealing.

Jarvis put Martin Haag's men back in front with a well-struck penalty as they edged a lively first 10 minutes.

The boot of Jarvis put Nottingham 13-7 up with another penalty, but Ealing scored next, Ronnie McLean dotting down from close range.

Shortly before half-time Henderson picked a strong line off McLean's pass to race home from the halfway line.

Ward added his third conversion, but Nottingham hit back.

The pack looked to drive their way over, but when they were repelled, the ball was spun wide to winger Joe Cobden and his try made it 21-20 at the break. After the interval Ealing secured the bonus point after slick hands from Tom Bedford and Chesters allowed Henderson to score his second try.

Jarvis closed the gap to five points with a simple penalty and they almost had another score through scrum-half Sean Romans, but he was held up.

Ward nearly picked out Chesters with another cross-kick to get into the Nottingham 22, from where Ward dropped a goal to stretch the lead further.

Morgan Thompson popped over cheeky a drop goal from the back of a ruck, but a second Calladine try brought Nottingham back to within one score as Jarvis converted. It could have been all square when substitute Harrison Lee-Everton then raced away to the corner, but Jarvis struck the upright with his conversion.

There was still time for Nottingham but Ealing ran the clock down to leave Haag's team to reflect on another loss while the hosts have a chance to stay up.
