Three offenders went to the address on West Avenue, Stapleford, telling the homeowner that they were there to repair the guttering. While one thief took the pensioner outside, the other two went inside and stole money.
One suspect is described as white, around 55-years-old, 5ft 9ins tall, of stocky build, with short, grey hair, facial stubble. He wore scruffy clothes and spoke with an Irish accent. The thieves were driving a large, white transit van.
