A number of Nottinghamshire theatres will be giving the public a sneak peek behind the scenes – via social networking site Twitter.

The Royal Concert Hall, Lace Market TheatreNottingham Playhouse and Mansfield's Palace Theatre will be joining 300 other theatres and drama organisations across the country as part of a global celebration.

Theatre-goers around the world will be given an exclusive, behind-the-scenes view of life backstage as they prepare for the busy Christmas season.

Well-known theatres including Shakespeare's Globe (@The_Globe) and the National Theatre(@NationalTheatre) will be joined by regional theatres, playhouse and drama groups.

Mar Dixon, who runs the Culture Themes project, says: "#LoveTheatre day will bring together all the fantastic theatre-related stuff happening on Twitter into one place at one time. It's especially exciting as many venues are preparing for Christmas.

"We're expecting Twitter to come to life with an explosion of colour and creativity on Wednesday so follow along on Twitter to make sure you don't miss out."

Tune in to the hashtag #LoveTheatre on Twitter to see exclusive pictures and videos, question and answer sessions with theatre staff, virtual tours and more.

There will also be three further sessions throughout the day with their own hashtag so you can join the conversation:
#BackStage: 10am to 12 pm: An access-all-areas glimpse into how a production comes together. Who are the people behind your favourite plays? What really goes into costume and makeup, set design and venue management?
#AskATheatre: 3pm to 5pm: Your chance to ask those burning questions about anything and everything theatre related. Search for the hashtag #AskATheatre to see which theatres are taking part, and Tweet them with your questions.
#Showtime: 7 pm to 10 pm: Experience the excitement of #Showtime as the curtain lifts for an evening of entertainment.
