An inquest into the death of a boxer has opened after he collapsed and died following a bout in Nottingham.
Lance Ferguson-Prayogg, of The Wirrall, died on June 22 at Queen's Medical Centre following his 'white collar' boxing match at The Forum nightclub in the Cornerhouse two days earlier.
The 31-year-old collapsed within minutes of the fight's conclusion and was taken to QMC with "very low levels of consciousness".
Less than 48 hours later, he suffered from a cardiac arrest and died later that afternoon.
Commentators said boxing was to blame, whilst those within the sport questioned whether he was fit to fight.
But at Tuesday's opening of the inquest in Nottingham, assistant coroner Jane Gillespie said a post-mortem report showed "no evidence of significant acute head injury or trauma of any kind" and "no evidence of underlying natural disease."
A full inquest has been opened into Mr Ferguson-Prayogg's death and witnesses will be called to give evidence to the coroner on May 5, 2015.
