MANSFIELD Town have signed Huddersfield Town striker Daniel Carr on an emergency one-month loan.

The 20-year-old will link up with his new team-mates this evening when the Stags travel to Tranmere Rovers.

Boss Paul Cox had stated the need for reinforcements following Saturday's 0-0 draw with Cambridge United, when he had eight first-team players unavailable either through injury or suspension.

Forwards Matt Rhead (hamstring) and Ollie Palmer (ankle) had added their names to the list, leaving Alex Fisher and Rakish Bingham as the only attacking options.

Carr has experience of League Two, having spent time on loan at Fleetwood Town last season, where he scored one goal in five appearances.

He has also featured three times for his parent club, including twice as a substitute in the Championship.

Carr, who qualifies to play for Trinidad and Tobago at international level, started out at Reading between the ages of 16 and 18, before gaining experience during a loan spell at Dulwich Hamlet.

He netted 25 goals for the South London club in 2012/13 as they were crowned Isthmian League (Division One South) champions.

The Londoner then had a short trial with Premier League Liverpool, before joining Huddersfield, signing a two-year contract in 2013.

He will wear squad number 24 at Mansfield and is eligible to stay with the club until midnight on Monday, November 17, with his last available game the trip to Shrewsbury.
