Commitment key for Nottingham Forest amid encouraging draw, says boss Gary Brazil

A blend of commitment and energy helped Nottingham Forest claim an important point at Ipswich, according to caretaker boss Gary Brazil. A goal from Danny Collins put the Reds in front after only four minutes at Portman Road and they could easily have added to their advantage before half time. It was not a shock to see Ipswich fight back strongly after the break and their pressure finally told when Daryl Murphy headed the level with 11 minutes to go. But it was still a vastly improved performance from Forest, who handed debuts to academy product Ben Osborn and loan signing Lee Peltier. And Brazil was impressed, in particular, with the attitude of his players. "For me, that is something that you should always have at a football club. You should have commitment and that was something that we showed," he said. "We had a group of players out there who we knew were going to have a real go for this club. To a man, they all put a real strong shift in. "Ben Osborn had a fantastic debut, for a young boy. A lot of players can walk away from this and be pleased with the work they have put in today. "We have been honest with them, we have not pulled our punches. We have also done some good work. But we had a group of players who had legs, who would give it a go and who have quality as well. "We put the right group of players on the pitch and they responded." After seeing Forest beaten by Charlton in midweek, only 24 hours after he had been handed his caretaker role, Brazil felt Forest needed some energy and work rate in their side. "We needed a change after watching Tuesday. That was the second day in for me. We realised that we needed to put some legs into the team. We needed people who would be brave on the ball, who would stay on the ball," he said. "The likes of Ben, Radi (Majewski) and Jamie Paterson caused a lot of problems when they were able to break on people. Jamie Mackie put a shift in up front. Lee Peltier did well in his first game, picking up a few pieces and generally being a man. "We had a back four that stood up as a four. That is a strong front line that Ipswich have got. They asked questions of us, but we stood up to it well. "The players were excellent. Our first half performance was very strong. We took the lead through a set piece and asked questions of them on the break. "They poured forward, as we knew they would. But we felt that we could pick them off. We had two or three really good chances as well, that might have put us in a stronger position. "In the second half, we knew they would come at us. We needed to be strong, we needed to be men. We were just disappointed to have lost the goal in the manner that we did. We switched off for just a few seconds."
