A man claiming to be locked out of his house has targeted properties in Aspley and Bilborough asking to borrow money.

Two residents have handed over cash to the man in what is believed to be a doorstop scam.

Officers was called to Aspley Park Drive, Aspley, on August 27 after a man claiming to have locked himself out of his house asked residents to borrow money to get home. He claimed he would return with the cash he had borrowed but he did not.

A victim at Ennismore Gardens, Beechdale, reported similar circumstances on September 8. Again the money was not
returned.

PC Nicholas Joliffe said: "Please remember when it comes to answering your door or giving money you are in control.

"If you don't know the person and aren't comfortable with the situation then explain politely and refuse their request.

"We're asking residents to remain vigilant, be aware of who is coming up and down their street, and report any unusual activity to police."

If you have information about the incidents call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymous on 0800555111.
