BACK-UP netminder Dan Green was the shootout hero for Nottingham Panthers as they beat hosts Amiens 4-3 in their first game of the Napoleon Cup.
Jonathan Boxill gave Panthers the lead before Amiens made it 1-1 at the end of the first period.
Steve Lee followed his two goals against Lukko Rauma with another in this game and then youngster Lewis Hook stretched the lead.
A hit from behind sparked a line-brawl in the third and the hosts hit two late goals in the aftermath to take the game into overtime.
No further scoring meant a shootout and Green, who had taken over from Craig Kowalski at the start of the third period, came to the fore alongside Chris Lawrence, who pulled a move to beat the home goalie during the round-robin section.
Panthers were missing David Clarke, Chris Higgins, Mark Lee and Colby Cohen but iced four lines with Ollie Betteridge and Hook included.
Coach Corey Neilson told the club: "I saw a lot of great things. We played with a lot more pace.
"Lewis Hook and Ollie Betteridge came in and did a really good job for us.
"Dan Green made some spectacular saves in the shootout. All in all it was a good day. We got the first win of the season, which the boys were pretty pumped about."
