PEOPLE in Notts are being encouraged to submit nominations for the New Year or Queen's Birthday honours.
The Government has revealed that just 4.7 per cent of honours given out this year went to people from the East Midlands.
Anyone can nominate someone for an award and anyone can receive an award.
Awards include MBEs, OBEs, CBEs and knighthoods.
Sir Bob Kerslake, head of the Civil Service, said: "We encourage nominations from all over the country and we'd particularly like to see more people from the East Midlands receiving recognition for their achievements.
"Some people may think honours are largely reserved for certain professions or backgrounds but they really are for anyone who has done a great job for their community and helped make the country a better place to live."
A nomination form can be found at gov.uk/honours or by phoning the honours team in the Cabinet Office on 020 7276 2777.
