MARRIED couple Shannon and Peter Parker are hoping to pull on the audience's heart strings to win this year's Got to Dance competition.
The Ollerton duo are the oldest participants left in the competition and hope their "romantic" appeal will pull at the heart strings of voters during Friday's showpiece finale.
Known as Bitter Harvest, Shannon, 49, and Peter, 45, perform classic ballet routines and will be among nine acts on stage for the climax of Sky One's annual competition in the live final.
Shannon said: "We work a lot from our hearts. Our technique, emotion and lifts are our main attributes. I think people are really behind the fact that we are a married couple. It's romantic, like a love story unravelling in front of their eyes."
The couple met 19 years ago, through dancing together at the Northern Ballet Theatre.
Shannon, originally from California, moved over after a successful video audition and says she fell in love with Peter at first site.
Got to Dance has become a swansong for the pair, who retired from competitive dancing ten years ago.
"It's a bit bizarre and a bit surreal really," said Peter. "But we feel at homer on stage. We like to think that some how people feel attached to our story."
Peter says they're in the best shape of their life and that being older than the other contestants gives them the experience on the night.
"Anyone can win at the live show," he said. "We're going out there to enjoy the performance. It's a dance we love."
The couple revealed they will perform a classical ballet routine with a contemporary twist, including Shannon on point and a number of technical lifts. It will play out to Ed Sheeran's Photograph.
"It's such a fantastic song," said Shannon. "It talks about relationships and how things can go back and forth. The song really seemed to hit home with us.
"I'm inspired by people who makes comebacks. Like Torvill and Dean and Madonna. We thought we could challenge ourselves and we are really excited to be going on stage for the final.
The duo are one of judge and Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo's team of three acts among the nine in the final.
Got to Dance's live final will be aired on Sky One from 7.30pm on Friday.
