City Centre: Nottingham City Council is holding a free 'Talk Cancer' workshop in partnership with Cancer Research UK.

The aim of the event is to Increase knowledge around cancer prevention, screening and early diagnosis, build confidence to talk to the public about cancer and help encourage people to make lifestyle changes.

The event runs between 9.30am and 12.30pm at 1 Standard Court on Park Row.

St Ann's: Sustainable transport group Sustrans is holding an outreach event to encourage Nottingham people to get on their bikes.

Sessions are available with Dr Bike to fix any problems with cycles in order to get people using them for travel.

The free event runs from 10am to 12.30pm at Chase Neighbourhood Centre.

City Centre: Nottingham Contemporary will be showing a screening of Surname Viet Given Name Nam, directed by Trinh T Min-ha.

The showing is part of the gallery's film season Far From Vietnam.

The programme is jointly funded by Nottingham Trent University and The University of Nottingham.

The screening starts at 6.30pm in 'The Space' at the gallery on Weekday Cross.

Mansfield: Children will be able to create cardboard car parks for their toy cars and trucks at a craft event.

It is being held at Mansfield Museum, in Leeming Street, between 10am and 1pm, with entry costing £1 per person.

City centre: Letters sent by Nottinghamshire soldiers to loved ones during the First World War will be read out.

The event is being held at the Nottinghamshire Archives building in Castle Meadow Road from 2.30pm.

Donnington: The Army Reserves are hosting an open day in Nottingham to show prospective troops what is on offer if they sign up.

The event will run between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Trench Road.

Beeston: Comic and collectables store Chimera is hosting a hobby league for Pokemon card players.

The gathering costs £3 and entitles the player to two sessions, at 530pm and 7.30pm. Participants will need 60 cards to play and will compete for exclusive foil Pokemon cards.

Chimera is at 105 High Road.

Lace Market: The Living Room is hosting a speed dating night for professionals.

Daters need to register by 7.45pm to join in and will meet around 20 prospective partners as the ladies stay seated and the men move every four minutes.

The event is scheduled to last until 10pm, though drinks will be available afterwards at the bar.

Tickets cost £15.
