NOTTINGHAMSHIRE star Stuart Broad was forced to retire hurt on day three of the fourth Investec Test betwen England and India at Old Trafford.
Broad, the hero on day one with six wickets, had just hit two consecutive sixes off Varun Aaron before the livewire India bowler struck him in the face with a bouncer.
The ball managed to squeeze between the gap in his helmet and smashed into his nose, leaving blood gushing out and the Notts bowler shell-shocked and unable to continue at the crease.
He was then unable to take to the field to bowl in the afternoon session while he had stitches to the wound - although England were well on top at this point with a lead of over 200 on first innings scores.
