Flash flooding in parts of Nottingham

Flash flooding hit parts of Nottingham on Friday evening following heavy rain and storms. Police had to deal with a number of heavily flooded roads, including Haydn Road in Sherwood and Shakespeare Street in the city centre. Forecasters are expecting more heavy rain on the way on Sunday, and the Met Office has issued a weather warning for torrential rain between 12.15am and 11.45pm. There is also the potential for the weather to become "dangerous and volatile" over the weekend if ex-hurricane Bertha hits Nottinghamshire. The storm has now been downgraded below tropical storm level but Met Office forecasters say if the county is hit, more than 50 millimetres of rain could fall in the space of just hours.
