A PENSIONER will appear in court tomorrow charged with attempted murder after a 13-year-old boy was shot.
Police were called to Thorneywood Mount, Thorneywood, at around 6.30pm on Friday after reports of a shooting.
The boy was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre with wounds caused by a shotgun.
His injuries were not life-threatening and he has since been discharged.
Detectives announced on Saturday night Alan Walker, 67, who lives in Thorneywood Mount, had been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court in the morning.
After Friday's incident police cordoned off a section of Thorneywood Mount until around 3pm on Saturday.
A shotgun has been recovered from the area by police, who did not say whether the shooting happened outside in the street or inside an address.
Nottingham City Transport had to divert its number 39 bus service along Porchester Road and residents whose homes were inside the cordon had to sign in and out with police.
One neighbour, Jim Edwards, 57, said: "I heard a noise which sounded like a firework but then I thought it might be a gunshot."
He added: "It has been surreal to have to sign myself in and out of the police cordon. But I'm glad they're making sure we're all safe.
"There were police over the road taking photographs and fingerprints."
Thorneywood Mount is a residential street made up mainly of semi-detached houses occupied by families and older people.
On Saturday afternoon two Notts Police vans were parked in the street and police officers could be seen going in and out of a detached house which had a broken front window.
Notts Police described the shooting as an "isolated" incident.
A force spokeswoman said: "A firearm is believed to have been discharged and then recovered.
"A teenager has sustained injuries requiring treatment as a result of the incident."
