It is a situation many of us have been in. Shouting at the TV while watching a game show, thinking how we could do so much better than the contestants on the box. For Chris Harrison wondering how he would get on proved too much of a temptation. So he applied to appear on Noel Edmonds' Deal or No Deal. A successful application and two auditions later and he has been appearing on TV screens across the country for the last few nights - and will continue to do so for much of the remainder of the month. Chris, 23, of Hucknall, said: "I was around my friend's house one night and was a bit bored, so I thought to myself I should apply for a show. "It was a bit of fun. I like Deal or No Deal. I didn't really expect I would be successful but then I got a call inviting me for auditions. "The auditions involved role-playing, including doing Noel Edmonds' role and those who got through were all told together. The second audition was a one-to-one interview." Chris, who is a customer service adviser at warranty provider Domestic and General, went to the filming of the show in Bristol in February and March. His first appearance was broadcast last Thursday on Channel 4. His last episode will be shown on Monday, August 25. Chris said: "It was a bit odd watching myself on the show. I look terrible. There are always things you wish you could have done differently. "But I loved being on the show. Meeting Noel Edmonds was a bit scary but I got used to it. "I want to be on more game shows. I am going to Australia for 12 months next month. Maybe I could try my luck out there, too." Chris is sworn to secrecy on whether he won any money. The show sees one contestant take centre stage while others have sealed boxes. The contestant on centre stage chooses boxes, all of which contain an amount of money. They will be made an offer by the 'banker' and must decide whether to take it. They can leave with up to £500,000 or nothing. During last Thursday's episode, a contestant named Jo picked a closed box which Chris had, which contained £5. Jo said: "I pick newbie Chris." Noel Edmonds replied: "Isn't he sweet?" Jo added: "He is cute."
