NOTTINGHAM boxing legend Carl Froch is to take on a celebrity game show this weekend – in the name of charity.
Forest fan Froch, who knocked George Groves out in a stunning Wembley win in May, will take part in ITV show Tipping Point: Lucky Stars on Saturday evening.
And the Burton Joyce boxer is donating all of his winnings to the Nottingham Hospitals Charity to help with a major renovation of the cancer and neuroscience wards – currently taking place at the city's Children's Hospital.
Carl said: "I think what they do for the young patients at Nottingham Children's Hospital is amazing.
"As a dad myself, I know how much your kids mean to you and if they're ill you just want the best for them. I was really happy to be able to support the transformation they're making on the wards.
"When it's all finished it will be a much nicer place to be, not just for the children but for their parents too."
The star-studded game show, which sees contestants set general knowledge questions to win counters to put in a 'coin pusher' style arcade machine, will also feature Eastenders actress Samantha Womack and chat show host Jonathan Ross.
The redevelopment of the units at the Children's Hospital - based within the Queen's Medical Centre - will include the creation of a colourful and fun ward tailored for kids.
The renovation will also include facilities for children with neurological diseases, new furniture, interactive play equipment and an improved ventilation system to reduce the risk of infection for the most vulnerable patients.
Nottingham Hospitals Charity chief executive Barbara Cathcart said: "We need to raise at least £500,000 for our Building the Best Appeal and we're delighted that Carl has chosen to support us.
"The redevelopment of the cancer and neuroscience wards that's currently taking place will make the facilities at Nottingham Children's Hospital truly first class, to match the first class care that the young patients already receive."
Froch has already been unveiled as one of the star turns for the BBC show Tumble this summer, where various celebrities will try their hand at gymnastics.
And it's not the first time the 37-year-old has taken to our screens in a celebrity show after taking part in dance show Stepping Out with his partner Rachel Cordingley.
To find out how much he raises for the charity tune in to ITV1 at 7.30pm on Saturday.
