Child killer Mairead Philpott has today lost her appeal against her sentence. Three judges sitting at Nottingham Crown Court made the decision in the most high-profile case to be broadcast since cameras were allowed into the Court of Appeal last month. After listening to the defense and prosecution for less than an hour Lord Thomas, The Lord Chief Justice, said it was clear that Mick Philpott was the "driving force" and that Mairead was dominated. But he added that Mairead had been "complicit in the lies". There was applause from the public gallery as Court of Appeal judges dismissed a renewed application by Mairead Philpott to challenge her jail term. The 32-year-old was jailed alongside her husband Mick at Nottingham Crown Court in April for 17 years after being found guilty of the manslaughter of Jade Philpott and her brothers John, Jack, Jesse, Jayden and Duwayne.
