POLICE were seen on patrol near a council meeting amid fears that it may "get out of hand".
Edwinstowe Parish Council chairman Celia Brooks spotted what looked like a police community support officer walking past the venue's doors at the meeting held last night.
She said: "The police did not come to the meeting but when we opened the doors, because it was quite warm inside, we did see what I think was an officer patrolling the area."
She added: "There were a few interruptions at the meeting but nothing like before.
"It did not need to be stopped and we actually got through quite a lot of business."
Police were called to an Edwinstowe Parish Council meeting last month after chaos erupted during public speaking time. Several residents were angry that the council was taking over the administration of Ollerton Road allotments.
As a result the meeting had to be halted after only 15 minutes. Members of the public eventually left the meeting and congregated outside for a short period before dispersing.
