BLUE plates are to be introduced at Nottingham's hospitals to stimulate patients with dementia to start eating.
Research in other hospitals shows that people who have dementia struggle to see food on white plates.
It is suggested that by using the blue crockery, food contrasts against the plate making it easier for patients to recognise it.
The crockery is the latest in a number of projects aimed at improving care delivered to patients with dementia.
The move coincides with national Dementia Awareness Week from May 18 to 24, the is the annual awareness-raising campaign organised by the UK Alzheimer's Society.
